I know it’s been a while, but we have been working like dogs around here. I’ve been keeping my garden clean, and flower beds weeded, keeping the house clean, keeping Atleigh, getting Dallas to where he needs to go like football practice and mowing his brothers yard. He also has been keeping up with our yard and weedeating. He is so excited that football practice has started and is getting to lift weights. He has come home many days sore and exhausted but knows he has work to do for dad.
I had to take him to the dentist finally with that tooth. They did xrays and could find nothing wrong with the tooth, nerves, roots, or gum. So he mashed around on his jaw and up the side of his head behind his ear and Dallas winced. He suspected grinding but said there was no evidence of worn teeth. So, it boiled down to clenching. He said Dallas was obviously clenching his jaws when he gets tense and in his sleep. So the relief was to construct a mouth guard that he is to wear at night when he sleeps. So far, no more headaches. The muscle is relaxing too.
Jossie’s birthday rolled around and she had a very good day. I made her a chocolate cake and she was in Heaven.
Daddy came home Memorial Day weekend and we just had family time. I don’t know who he was having the most fun with but I think it was a tie.
Me and Atleigh have good times when she is here. We make memories. She is a character I tell you. She is fixing to turn 1 yr old and it’s flying by fast.
She has to be doing everything I’m doing and be right under my feet. Literally, I trip over her.
She has been cutting three teeth at once and they are finally coming through. Phew! On a good note, she is learning to eat with a spoon.
Everytime I look at her, I see her daddy. Dakota is on the left, she is on the right.
One day, we swooped by and grabbed our granny again and went to lunch and Toys R Us for the closeout sales. I got both girls Christmas shopping done. Then when we took granny home, and poppa was off work so he got to see her too.
I don’t know what we are going to do when baby sister Caroline gets here. Atleigh does not like me holding anybody else or anybody living on me. She is jealous. She wants me all to herself. If Dallas or Poppie loves on me or touches me, she will whine and pull them away from me and squeeze in. Oh boy!
Next came our big trip to Pigeon Forge for Dallas’ karate tournament. Daddy let’s us go and have a mini vacation too. We traveled on Friday and got there and checked in, unloaded truck, freshened up, and ventured into Gatlinburg. I regretted it that night because my feet and legs were swollen all the way to my calves. I let us ride the chairlift so I could get off my feet a bit.
We got back to hotel and knew we had to get in bed to get up early next morning. Dallas did a great job grappling and got first place. The judge knew our school and instructor because he said he could just tell. Not to mention, our instructor has been to his school teaching techniques to his students. He said Dallas was very good. He enjoyed watching him. However, he did pull a muscle in his back while grappling. It was hurting so bad he didn’t place in sparring. He said every time he brought his leg up to kick, it hurt and just sent a pain up his back. I knew something was wrong when he wasn’t gungho and throwing his favorite kicks. He did get a sparring metal.
He chose not to do a kata this year which I was disappointed because he is always crisp clean. But this was about him not me. You see, I’ve had to back off where karate is concerned because I literally got so involved that I was being pushy and bossy and sucking the fun out of his passion. It is my fault and I am to blame. He wants to take a break for a while and I don’t blame him. He has to get that desire back for his passion so he can be better and finish what he started. If I don’t he will resent me and give up. When he chooses to go back he will be refreshed and determined and better than ever. He will truly earn his black belt because he will want it even more. Right now he wants to focus on football.
That night after the tournament, I had a surprise for us. I took them to the Dixie Stampede. It was awesome just let me say. We had the best time.
We got back to the hotel and crashed. Dallas was exhausted and so sore, my feet and legs blew up again and they were hurting so bad. We slept in because we were not going to be in a hurry to leave the next morning.
We got up this morning, got ready, packed the truck back up, ate breakfast, and checked out. There were a few more shops we wanted to hit that we just didn’t have the energy to do last night after the show. We got all of our souvenir shopping done and we knew we’d better not walk anymore because I had about a 6.5 hr drive ahead of me.
We got home this evening, unloaded everything, saw my momma off and I came in and took care of Dallas so he went to bed early. Then I got in my bed and swore not to move or do anything until bedtime to which I have kept my promise. I am so exhausted but we had a great time and made memories.
I will say goodnight for now and by the way, isn’t he just cute?
