All work no play….naw….we play too…

We have worked and played a little while since we are now officially out of school. Dallas finished up all his exams and I got his progress report in the mail and just awaiting on his final report card. Dakota did really well and made good grades also. Ive been very proud of Dakota getting up early around 5 am every  morning to go to football practice and in a few days he will start work after he leaves football practice. Hes been doing really well driving and letting us know when hes leaving some where and headed home. Some days he will text us and let us know he is stopping at Nannies (Davids mom ) to see if she needs some help with anything. He would do the same if it was my mom. Bless him.  We took him out to eat one night to kind of reward him for being a good boy.  This night Dallas chose to spend a few nights with one of his friends.  They had a really good time. I took him over there and got to spend some time with my boys, girls and babies.  I got my goat fix on. photo PhotoGrid_1401758982642_zpsm8ic1uvo.jpg Some were happy to see me, Hans was, he loved on me and came running right to me. Some were still mad at me and some came around, some never did. Maybe its better that way. I got to love on them some more. It want be long they will be making another move to KY. It will be hard saying good bye again, it always is.

Before I left Dallas and Jennings got busy making a fort for themselves so they could man their battle stations. photo IMG_20140529_162144_697_zpskkpbh17o.jpg photo IMG_20140529_162114_467_zps34wyeynf.jpg

While I was there, my friend Darlene showed me a simple crochet stitch to start out with. I made myself a handy dandy coaster. yea me. photo IMG_20140529_215020_441_zpsfftadazy.jpg Although I dont know if I will be able to do alot at one time considering it really aggravated my arthritis. Phewy. I might check into the looms they sell to crochet and knit with. I think I can still enjoy it and it not bother my hands. When I was little my great grandmother was teaching me and my grandmother how to crochet. I should have stayed with it. There is no telling what I would be doing today. I remember my greatgrand parents making alot of things for us.

I had to get down in the barn one day and work and put up some wire in the brooding pen so the little chicks wouldnt squeeze through again. I had a little helper. Tuffy.

She had already become a joy to be around. She knows her place is in the barn and she is already earning her keep. She got her self a lizard.
While I was working I turned my radio on on my phone and I guess the chicks and ducks liked it cause they all laid down and enjoyed it like they were chillaxin. lol

One day we had Casen. This is Sister Babies brother, Davids great nephew. Sister Baby did not come with him. photo PhotoGrid_1401223451754_zpsnlexukyk.jpg
The boys had a nice time entertaining Casen. All that was missing was his popcorn. photo IMG_20140527_161346_341_zps6bwnqxxn.jpg photo IMG_20140527_165904_498_zpsznzczbva.jpg
They had a blast. He is not at all like his fireball sister. He is more laid back and relaxed. He didnt want to go home, when Unkey Davey took him to Nannys house for his mommy to pick him up, Unkey Davey was getting ready to leave and casen grabbed his bag and was going back to Unkey Daveys house. Bless his little heart. Everybody loves Unkey Davey. I can understand why.
Time came when we had to work in the garden. I swear my farm kings help me so much. photo IMG_20140601_192110_804_zpshuvarh55.jpg
The Bible says if a man does not work he should not eat. Well, I hope we will be eating pretty good come harvest season. photo IMG_20140601_190941_741_zpsvwp2n6li.jpg
Today I put up six bags broccilli heads, one bag spinach, six bags carrots and made 4 qts homemade sauerkraut from 5 cabbage heads. Well see how it turns out. I leave with you a pic tutorial and instructions on how to make homemade sauerkraut.

Step one: take cabbage head and cut it up however you want to. Whether it be with a knife and cutting board or in your food processor. I preferred my foot processor or my hands would have been killing me. I forgot to take a pic of me doing this. Sorry. Then put in big container.

Step 2: With clean hands, thoroughly squeeze the cabbage til it will start making water. Seriously, squeeze the juice out of it. lol

Step 3: Using a food funnel, start packing your jars.

Step 4:  Take your fingers and tightly pack and push down as much down as you can in your jars.  Leave a one inch head space in your jar because as the cabbage ferments it will foam and rise to top.

Step 5: you can add a little salt if you want to, no more than a teaspoon. Then make sure around jar mouth is clean and put your lids on. Store jars in cool dark place to ferment for several weeks. Fermenting takes time and the longer it sits the better the flavor.

Enjoy with some wieners or sausage. yummy.

Until I blog again, Everyone have a blessed Day.

About 4dfarms

I am a wife to an amazingly dedicated, devoted, and loyal husband whom God sent to me. I am a mother to two wonderful boys to whom I'd give my life for. Around here we have homeschooled, we farm, garden, hunt, fish and anything else we want to do. Although I do have Rheumatoid Arthritis. Sometimes its hard for me to keep up. If it was not for my husband and two boys, I could not do some of what I do. They really do help me alot. We work together as a team in my home. We try our best to train up our children in the fear and admonition of the Lord. Yea, they slip sometimes and correction has to be made. Thats life. I want so badly to be just like the Proverbs 31 woman. My grandmother did an awesome job of it and Id like to fill her shoes.
