pardtx0tx959tx1918tx2877tx3836tx4795tx5754tx6713tx7672tx8631f1fs20 Joe Joe finally had her babies Sunday night around 8pm. Sunday morning I checked her ligaments in her tail bone and I could hardly feel them, this was the sign I was looking for. Thanks to Julia on her website of teaching people to look for this specific sign. I knew it would be in 24 hrs. Before we went back to church that night, I checked her again. When we got home from church again, I checked again. Sure nough, she was going into labor.

I ran up the hill(do you know how far the barn is from my house?) I come in and all I can manage to get out is Babies!!!!!!!!!!!! David tells me to slow down and breathe and repeat. This time I say Joe Joe is having babies!!!!!!!!!! Everybody scrambles for shoes and I grab my emergency bag (calling Dr. Dixon).

We get to the barn and get her into the kidding pen.Photobucket All the sudden she lays down and starts pushing. I notice she is having trouble, I only see one hoof. Normally both hooves will be present. She keeps pushing to no avail. The baby is stuck in the birth canal.  Finally, I have to glove up and sterilize and go in and find that other hoof. I finally find it and get it straight. If I had not it would have broke its shoulder. One little push after that and out it came. We help dry it off cause it was kind of chilli that night. Then not even 1 minute later, she pushes again and out comes another. Imagine my excitement. I got twins. A boy and a girl. Dixon Farms Cream of the Crop (buck) and Dixon Farms Joe Joes Peaches (doe). Aren’t they adorable?

The little girl was the one hung in the birth canal. She was a little stressed and wouldnt nurse so I had collected some colostrum from mom and gave her a bottle. Now she prefers the bottle instead of mom. The boy is nursing fine. It doesnt matter as long as they eat. They both have good personalities. I waited long enough and Im so happy. They are very playful. Ginger was very curious about her new brother and sister. She has to share momma now. I let Joe Joe out some to get fresh air and exercise and graze. Then when it is feeding time, I put her back in.

This is some homemade hamburger buns I made and they were gone the next day. The boys loved them. They make great sandwiches too.

About 4dfarms

I am a wife to an amazingly dedicated, devoted, and loyal husband whom God sent to me. I am a mother to two wonderful boys to whom I'd give my life for. Around here we have homeschooled, we farm, garden, hunt, fish and anything else we want to do. Although I do have Rheumatoid Arthritis. Sometimes its hard for me to keep up. If it was not for my husband and two boys, I could not do some of what I do. They really do help me alot. We work together as a team in my home. We try our best to train up our children in the fear and admonition of the Lord. Yea, they slip sometimes and correction has to be made. Thats life. I want so badly to be just like the Proverbs 31 woman. My grandmother did an awesome job of it and Id like to fill her shoes.
