We have been so busy and knee deep in vegetables, literally. Were up to 148 quarts of green beans, processing some tonight. Im actually using my grandmothers pressure cooker she use to use when I was little, Its nice to hear it go again, I cry a little each time and then Im using mine. Weve picked peas, shelled and processed peas. It takes a whole lot of them to make as many as the green beans but eventually we will get there.

We will plant some more  in August. Next we have to dig potatoes, can Salsa pick more peas, etc. Dakota loves my salsa. He has salsa withdrawls if we run out. My carrots didnt do as well simply because it got too hot too early on them. I will do them again in fall. The corn is fine. We have about 20 or so bags already in the freezer, this too we will plant more in August. We are fixing to go get a bull from Davids brother and have it processed. May have to get another freezer. Ha! I had a good little first mess of lima beans, the boys loved them too and suprisingly they turned out good. I will replant some pintos and limas. I got some bags of seed for half off at Co-op. Im going to be busy all the way up til the first frost.

My friends brought us some blueberries(by the way Darlene you escaped without me paying you for them). Ive made blueberry muffins and pancakes. Yum Yum!!!!!!!!!!

Everybody loved them. She brought her boys up to see us and we had to disbud them. They are Mr. Bojangles and Luke Grasswalker.

We had a wonderful July 4th. We went to a family reunion and then went to the park that night and saw some fireworks. That Sunday, we had a Independence Day Cantata and presented the flags and honored the Veterans in our church.

Tisha and the baby are still fine, Im amazed at how much Tasha has learned from momma. Here, she has to get on the milk stand with Momma and eat too, I want have no problem with her getting up there to eat later and be milked. Shes learning so much early. Photobucket

She really does amaze me. She watches Tisha do everything and she does it too. Yep, even the stubborness side of her. Ha! I have to wait til the get done eating so I can milk. One of the kittens, Smokey, gets in my lap or on the back of my neck and watches me milk. He loves it. I sneak him alittle now and then. We have enough right now to drink and make ice cream. Im still sharing with the baby. She has practically weaned herself. We had to disbud her and it was a little heart breaking but we found a very humane way to do the procedure. We administered Tylenol first, then disbudded, and then immediately followed with and icepack. She forgave us. I dont have a picture of this because we filmed it to go on my educational video. It was very funny afterwards because she went running down to the barn tattling the whole way and Tisha was running towards her hollering. They meet half way and momma consoled baby and loved on her. It was heart warming. Tisha is a very good mother. She still gets after Cocoa though for getting too close. One day I was in the garden and I heard a commotion. Tisha would run Cocoa out of the barn, then when outside, she would run her back in the barn, this went on for I know an hour. Tasha was steadily doing exactly like momma, she was just too funny. Poor Cocoa. I have to give her some special attention. I will get her bred first this year. She has got to have some babies.

Susie left yesterday to go back to the trainer. She is refreshing her for her big event coming up in the fall. She cant get over how she has recooperated. Its as though nothing ever happened. Linda is very impressed with her  progress. Now Dixie is lonely, so I let her out with me every morning to do the chores.

I dont know if were gonna have any baby chicks or not. When the momma hen leaves the nest for food or water I think another hen gets in there and pecks them open. Im down to just a couple of eggs. Ive got an old incubator that my papa gave me. I think it has some pieces missing and it may not work. But David is going to look at it for me and see if we can fix it. Hopefully we can use it.
par
I had a good bday. Although Im only 38 I feel 50 something sometimes. But by Gods Grace I will survive. David has really helped me in the garden. Sometimes  Ive just had to stop and rest and he finishes.
par
My bday card from David and my momma said the same thing. They both said that they think my grandmother would be proud of me and Im just like her. They dont know how much that meant to me. I try to put to use everything they have taught me. God has surely been good to me.

About 4dfarms

I am a wife to an amazingly dedicated, devoted, and loyal husband whom God sent to me. I am a mother to two wonderful boys to whom I'd give my life for. Around here we have homeschooled, we farm, garden, hunt, fish and anything else we want to do. Although I do have Rheumatoid Arthritis. Sometimes its hard for me to keep up. If it was not for my husband and two boys, I could not do some of what I do. They really do help me alot. We work together as a team in my home. We try our best to train up our children in the fear and admonition of the Lord. Yea, they slip sometimes and correction has to be made. Thats life. I want so badly to be just like the Proverbs 31 woman. My grandmother did an awesome job of it and Id like to fill her shoes.
